![]() The study list can be used in tests that the program creates for you, or as a way to learn new words or words that you have difficulties with. It is possible to add looked up word to a study list that the program maintains. It lacks a drawing module though, which means that you should have a sheet of paper at hand, or an image editor open to practice the drawings. The software ships with stroke order animations for more than 6000 Kanji, which you can play directly in the program to learn how to draw Kanji. You see both the Japanese Kanji and the English (sometimes German as well) meanings of the word. The program accepts both English words, Japanese signs, and Romaji. You can look up any Kanji right away in the interface by using the search form at the top right. It takes little time to get accustomed to the program. Tagaini Jisho is another excellent free Japanese dictionary and Kanji lookup tool that is available as a Open Source application for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Some improvements have also been brought to the lists feature introduced in 0.2.5. The HTML file is also a template, so users are encouraged to submit improvements. This feature is not 100% complete yet, but is already working. If you want to practice on your iPhone or Android device, you may want to consider this. This file uses Javascript to propose list review but also basic flashcards. Also, if you think you can improve the layout of the current templates, please don’t hesitate to discuss it on the mailing list or forum!Ī new export format has also been introduced, that outputs a single HTML file containing all the entries of a list or search result. Changing them is not easy for the end user yet, but it is the first step in this direction. The biggest change of this release is the introduction of HTML/CSS templates for the detailed view, which will on the long term allow to customize how information is displayed. Some rough edges are still present, but they only concern new features. Since no deep changes have been introduced, it is probably safe for all users to try it. The first release candidate for the upcoming 0.2.6 version is available.
